Nice read here about the process of approaching performance time. Tomorrow I have an important performance, and I know I’ll have slips, because I still know I don’t really know every detail in order not to have slips. It takes so much time and I fall into the habits of just playing through the music when I really should be practicing. I promise my next practice will be different! 3/28/2025

I had no idea this was possible. Yesterday I recorded the primo of Schumann op 85 Am Springbrunnen. I did 8 times, slow to fast, a certain passage that I had added too many notes too many times. I’m playing secondo in the performance.

Sometimes I’ve used my electric keyboard to do the same, recorded the other part and then tempo control for moving up the tempo.

I can’t practise for the whole of this week and wonder if I could do the homework assignment just with mental practice.

On Friday I am visiting a violin maker in London and could try and make a video on one of his instruments.
