So, I spent a week using the DP worksheet (and challenge 1) to ‘tune up” some issues on a piece I had to perform live at the end of the week. I have before and after recordings that show that many, if not all, of the identified problems, did get addressed in the concert.
On reflection, I looked back at my worksheet and noted that all the “problems” were low level tactical issues. This is in contrast to the explainer video you made that covers the practice model in a high level three step sequence. The video talks about high level goals, the overall effect of the passage, more so than the specific problems and solutions.
In retrospect, while I did address the specific problems, l didn’t always do so in a way the fully fleshed out a high level objective. What I’m trying to say is that I think that the worksheet (and my performance) could have been even more effective with the “big picture” somewhere in view. I’ve attached my own practice notes that show you my process much like yours, fully tactical, but missing that overarching objective for the passage or the piece.
