That’s fantastic advice! I haven’t even started the Bulletproof Musician yet (have to make the initial video/perform for someone) but I have come across some tips like this from you on the site and it has completely changed my outlook. The tip you mentioned that really made me think was that we should bring the concert hall to the practice room rather than the other way around, since, surely, everything will feel different during a performance.
So it made me realize that rather than trying to completely turn off anxiety and feel as I do in my practice room alone, that I should figure out what happens when I get nervous and figure out and practice ways to deal with them on stage, just like the releasing tension tip you mention above.
So then rather than thinking that i HAVE to be completely calm on stage, I could know that I have a whole tool kit of ways to deal with nerves, which I’ve practiced. And probably the knowledge that I have these tools would lessen the anxiety in the first place because I would know that I can deal with anything that comes up.
This is a completely different approach and I’m very excited to get into it. Thanks for the help!
